Spicy Tahini Sriracha Sauce

Recipe by Danielle Lavallee

This sauce is so versatile and easy to make. It takes just minutes to prepare, it's a tastier and much healthier substitute for mayo (like in wraps and sandwiches), and it is delicious on everything from Banh Mi bowls to tacos. Trust me. This one's a keeper.

It couldn't be easier to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons tahini (I prefer brands where the only ingredient is ROASTED sesame seeds, such as Joyva)

  • The juice of 1 large lemon or 2 small limes (use whatever citrus pairs best with your dish)

  • Sriracha to taste (start with a tsp and work up to your preferred level of spice)

  • A pinch of salt

  • A splash of tamari for umami flavor (Optional, but it does add a nice umami hit in the back of your mouth.)

Instructions:

  • Blend with a fork or whisk until smooth and creamy.

  • If dressing seizes up, add a bit more citrus juice or a tablespoon of water at a time until smooth and creamy.

  • Taste and adjust the seasonings to suit your dish and your palate.

That's it. So easy!

Not only is this sauce scrumptious, but unlike regular sriracha mayo, you can eat it guilt-free knowing that it is full of antioxidants, flavonoids, and lignans (think reduced cancer risk and protection from liver damage). It also contains phosphorous, manganese, thiamine, vitamin B6, and big dose of vitamin C.

I just love it when I can improve my health by pouring delicious sauce on my dishes.
