The 30-Day Alzheimer’s Solution

I was delighted when The 30-Day Alzheimer’s Solution, by Dean and Ayesha Sherzai, arrived in the mail. This book expands upon their 2019 Alzheimer’s Solution text, providing a practical month-long program for optimizing brain health. While their program is specifically written for those seeking to avoid or to moderate the symptoms of Alzheimer’s Disease, the methods used would benefit any of us hoping to keep our brains as healthy as possible.

Included from their prior book are their five NEURO steps (Nutrition, Exercise, Unwind, Restore, and Optimize). The authors advocate for a lifestyle centered around fully plant-based nutrition, physical movement, optimized sleep, and ways to both challenge and quiet the brain. The first half of the book delineates their 30-day program, and the second half is packed with gorgeous plant-based recipes and meal plans. Backed by a ton of science, this new book is a terrific bridge from theory to practice. It is beautifully written, grounded in scientific study and clinical practice, and has a lovely layout and gorgeous photography.

If you have a family history of dementia or cognitive degeneration, or if you simply care about preserving your own brain health as you age, I encourage you to give this book a look. It’s a quick and enjoyable read. The steps, while perhaps challenging to practice, are clearly outlined and easy to understand. It has a ton of important and useful information to impart, and a bevy of gorgeous recipes to try. Should you wish to check it out before you buy, it is available in both book and audiobook formats our local library.

I whole-heartedly recommend The 30-Day Alzheimer’s Solution, as well as their prior, more textbook-like, Alzheimer’s Solution. You can also find Dr. Ayesha and Dean Sherzai at www.thebraindocs.com or on instagram at www.instagram.com/thebraindocs/?hl=en, where Ayesha puts out weekly videos. I am grateful for their excellent work.

Cheers!
